Overall, Laslow's off to a pretty strong start. If he doesn't have combat to perform at any point, he can at the very least end his turn using his rally. With any pair up that gives at least +2 strength, Laslow will also be able to one-round Spear Fighters on player phase. Effie and Beruka are perfect for acting as a stat backpack for Laslow. Since he doesn't need a +strength pair up to meet one-round thresholds, it's recommended to give him a +defense pair up instead to increase his bulk for enemy phase. With this setup, Laslow will be able to one-round enemy Apothecaries on enemy phase with ease thanks to Strong Riposte. When the chapter starts, have Laslow take the Master Seal and Bronze Bow and promote instantly on turn 1. When going into this chapter, it is essential to bring a Master Seal (obviously) and a forged Bronze Bow +1. So, what does Laslow do with his fancy new promotion? Let's start with his join chapter, chapter 12. Bow Knight Laslow is not only a less costly option than Master Ninja, but also functions better as a combat unit. Laslow will be able to make strong contributions as a combat unit until mid-game starts coming to an end. As a Bow Knight, Laslow has 16 base strength and 16 base speed, which is really good. Bow Knight Laslow is pretty much the exact same as Bow Knight Selena initially, only with more perks, which I'll get to later. The most optimal strategy for Laslow is to promote as soon as possible in his join chapter into Bow Knight. Frankly, Master Ninja Laslow just ends up as a worse Kaze that needs more investment. Selena into Falcon Knight, Xander into Wyvern Lord, and Kana into his secondary class are all good examples of this. With that said, there are better uses for that heart seal than for Master Ninja Laslow. Gunter pretty much has dibs on the third, which leaves the fourth to be uncontested.

The first 2 heart seals always go to Jakob and Corrin, which leaves 2 more heart seals left after the Staff Shop lvl 2 upgrade after chapter 13. Heart seals are usually extremely contested. Laslow has much more potential than "+1 str +1 spd", and Master Ninja simply isn't worth the investment. I disagree with both using Laslow purely for his rally and using Master Ninja Laslow at all. According to u/Ownagepuffs, with an additional investment of an armscroll and a speedwing, Laslow could become a somewhat competent combat unit. Some people would argue that Laslow's best option is to use a heart seal and go into Master Ninja. The second opinion was pretty interesting. The first one is that he had his personal rally, so you either used him for that or you put him on the bench. During the creation of the tier list, there were two main opinions on Laslow. So, with all of this, what the heck does Laslow even do? Judging from the recent community tierlist, Laslow is one of the most misunderstood units in Fates in my opinion. Laslow's bases and growths are as follows: He starts with the Mercenary skills Good Fortune and Strong Riposte, as well as his personal skill Fancy Footwork, which is a rally that gives +1 strength and +1 speed to allies within 2 spaces for 1 turn. His bases and growths are pretty solid, having high hp, strength, skill, and luck, as well as having alright speed, defense, and resistance. In Conquest, Laslow joins in chapter 12 as a level 12 Mercenary. Because of this, I thought I might as well share what I think is the most optimal way to use these units. This affected the tier list way more than it should, and some of the rankings seem off as a result.
In the most recent tier list made a few months ago, I noticed that a lot of people were voting on what they thought a unit could do instead of what the unit could actually do. Despite Fates being over 3 years old, both the Conquest meta and the Birthright meta seems pretty undeveloped.
